Lenses - More Information
Surfaced-to-Frame ™ technology
Rather than cutting standard sized
off the shelf lenses to fit your frame, Surfaced-to-Frame
uses computerised technology to calculate the very smallest
lens form for your frame, resulting in a thinner, lighter
lens
Progressive lenses
At some stage in your life, usually
in your 40s, you will find it becomes more and more
difficult to focus on things near and far. This
natural phenomenon is called Presbyopia, in practical
terms it means spectacles for close-up and distance
are required.
The perfect solution is lenses that
enable you to see clearly from close-up to distance
including everything in between.
Furthermore progressive lenses, unlike
bifocals, have no dividing lines meaning that wearers
are indistinguishable from their (usually younger) single
vision colleagues!
In recent years lens companies have
invested substantially in the research and development
of progressive lens technology and we can now supply
probably the most impressive progressive lenses in the
world. Our target is to supply you with a lens that
duplicates your natural.
Not surprisingly, the
dispensing of progressive lenses is something of an
art for so we’ll talk you through that when you visit
us at Optique.
Light-sensitive
lenses
If you are already a spectacle wearer,
you will know how frustrating it is to be caught in
the sun without a suitable pair of prescription sunglasses.
Invariably squinting is the only option!
However there is now a light-sensitive
spectacle lens that reacts so quickly and efficiently
to changing light conditions, you can wear them literally
anywhere, holidaying on a sunny beach, working in the
office or even relaxing in bed with a good book. Furthermore
they can react up to a 50% tint inside a car, making
them completely safe for driving, both day and night.
In short they are light when they
need to be light, indoors or on an overcast day, and
dark when they need to be dark, in the sun! The
result is one pair of spectacles that offers complete
visual comfort whatever the weather, no mean achievement
in this country!
What more could you want?
Anti-reflection
coatings
It is often said that your eyes are
the windows to your soul, so why obscure such beauty
with spectacles lens glare when anti-reflection (AR)
coatings are so efficient.
These coats all but eliminate reflections
leaving 99% of ambient light to enter your eyes meaning,
quite simply, that you can see better. This anti-reflection
facility really comes into its own when, for example,
you are reading a book under a light, watching the TV
or working on a computer. The lack of annoying
reflections on your lens makes the task far easier.
You will also notice that anti-reflection
coats help eliminate headlight glare when driving at
night and also the blinding reflective glare you often
get off a wet road.
Finally, if you’ve ever scratched
your lenses you will know how annoying this is!
Ask about Optique’s anti-reflection coating that is
also combined with a durable anti-scratch coating.
Sunglasses,
UV and your eyes
Sunglasses should serve two purposes
in your life. Firstly, and most importantly, they
must protect your eyes from the sun’s harmful UV rays
and secondly, they should look good!
At Optique we are masters of sun protection.
Whilst this is taken for granted by many, the terms
“UV protection” should not always be taken to mean “safe”.
Only lenses that are 100% UVA/UVB protective should
be worn. Ask Optique for further help if superb sunglasses
are your thing.
